Here is the tree I did for Dolores Fernandez Chavez for Geneastar. Her mother's name is Chavez, a very common Mexican name. I have quite a few Chavez in my Rivera family as well.

Below are my Ancestry trees. I go back farther than five generations. Dolores had three husbands, Ralph William Head, Ventura Huerta and Richard Chavez. She has 13 children including her two daughters with Cesar Chavez. I've met her in person a few times. Very nice, very sharp, so devoted to the cause. I feel bad what she had to go through with Cesar Chavez. I can't even imagine how she felt giving her daughters to another family. Maybe the daughters figured out who their father was by doing a DNA test. Others have said that many knew who their father was for many years.

Wallis Annenberg Family Tree, Ancestry, Ethnicity, Heritage, DNA, Jewish by Mary Cummins

Philanthropist and animal lover Wallis Annenberg passed away this morning. She is survived by her four children, Lauren Bon, Charles Weingarten, Roger Weingarten, Gregory Weingarten, and five grandchildren, Dorian, Maya, Lily. I did the tree of her father many years ago for Geneastar. Her parents were Walter Annenberg and his first wife, Bernice Veronica Dunkelman. She had a brother named Roger who predeceased her. What does Dia de Muertos, Day of the Dead Mean to Me as a Latina in the US by Mary Cummins, Maria Rivera

What does today November 2 Dia de los Muertos mean to me? My grandmother was born in Mexico City, Mexico in 1899. She raised me and was my mother, father and all grandparents combined. As Catholics her family honored All Souls day and would go to church for mass then visit the cemetery to care for the graves of their dearly departed. There was no big Catrina culture or Dia de Muertos festivals or parades at that time. Dia de Muertos was originally celebrated more in southern Mexico. It's been more recently popularized and amplified for tourism and commerce.

Growing up Roman Catholic with Mexican heritage our family honored All Souls day here in Los Angeles, California. We would go to church for mass and say a rosary for our loved ones who had passed. Dia de Muertos for my family was a day of honoring our deceased family members. My Nana would talk fondly about her father and siblings. Her mother died when she was 1.5 years old, father died when she was 12. She'd tell me stories about her siblings who were my Aunt Katie and Uncles Luis, Albert and Joe.

My nana is long gone today having died over 30 years ago. I've since been involved in Dia de Muerto festivals, parades and Catrina culture exploring my Latinidad and Mexican roots. Today I sometimes visit my Nana's grave in San Diego, California. I also visit her brother Albert's grave while I'm there. I'm not driving to San Diego because of car issues and cost of gas this year. I will just fondly remember my Nana and her siblings. May they rest in peace. Q.E.P.D. Doxie Tombstone of Mike Szymanski at Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles, California by Mary Cummins genealogist

Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Hollywood, California is known for its amazing tombstones of celebrities and Hollywood icons. One of those tombstones is a six foot wide white marble couch with eight life size bronze dachshunds aka doxies. The owner of the #doxietombstone is local artist, activist, writer and doxie lover Mike Szymanski.

Szymanski a local author is still among the living. He spoke about the inspiration for his couch tombstone in a Facebook cemetery group.

"Hi all, I figured I would finally share my own tombstone at #hollywoodforever known as the #doxietombstone (a hashtag that was created by visitors)! The stories about it are easy to find online, but i wanted to share how I love to see how people enjoy it, have picnics and bring their dogs… I must say that few cemeteries in the world would have approved recreating my home sofa at the cemetery 🙂

Szymanski was inspired by a picture called "Couch Weiners" by Jamie Morath which he saw on a doxie website. It was a picture of a woman laying on a couch with all her doxies around her. He had plans made December 2019. The monument was designed by Rick Carl Design, it was hand made in China and was installed around June 2021.

As most know I'm a big cemetery and tombstone aficionado. My family is in the cemetery biz. I've traveled the world and always visit amazing cemeteries. This tombstone and the story behind it are very touching and dear to my heart as a fellow animal lover. If you go to Hollywood Forever, you really must visit this doxie couch! Tradition of the Catrina in Dia de los Muertos by Mary Cummins aka Maria Catrina Rivera Cummins

Today Dia de los Muertos aka Day of the Dead has been highly commercialized in Mexico, USA and around the world. Dia de Muertos has been mixed in with Halloween here in the United States. The fancy lady skeleton Catrina costume to some is now just a "spooky" Halloween costume. The real Catrina from Dia de los Muertos is not a scary Halloween costume at all. It has a rich and complex history starting in Mexico.

Artist Jose Guadalupe Posada (1852-1913) created the original "calavera catrina" pictured above published 1913 which he named "Calavera Garbancera." "Calavera" means "skull." "Catrina" translates roughly as "dapper" or "fancy." “Garbancera” means "chickpeas" and is a nickname for an Indigenous American (who sold chickpeas) who try to look European and deny their own heritage. They look at their own people with disdain and refuse to help them. "The Catrina hides her Mexican origins by wearing a French style hat and just her bones which make her look whiter." Posada's catrina wore a turn of the century European dress. The original engraving was part of an article, poem Posada wrote about the subject which is below in Spanish. You can read it here by clicking the image to make it larger. It is a long Spanish poem blasting Catrinas as empty, pathetic women who buy cheap jewelry and only care about their looks. Jose Posada was making fun of indigenous Mexicans who put on European airs. He was also showing us that we are all merely humans who will die and become skeletons. What we look like, what we wear doesn't matter. “Death is democratic. At the end, regardless of whether you are white, dark, rich or poor, we all end up as skeletons.” (Jose Posada)

Jose Posada was not the first to make calavera characters for the newspaper. Manuel Manilla also made calaveras for the paper some of which have been incorrectly credited to Posada. There were more artists before them who used calavera characters. Calaveras have been part of Mexican culture long before colonization. Real skulls were used in different ceremonies and rituals besides written documents.

"In 1947, the Mexican muralist Diego Rivera (1886-1957) elaborated on Posada's image and created a full-scale figure that he placed in his fresco "A Dream of a Sunday Afternoon in the Alameda Park" (now in the Museo Mural Diego Rivera). Whereas Posada's print likely intended to satirize upper class women of the Porfiriato, Rivera, through various iconographic attributes that referenced indigenous cultures, rehabilitated her into a Mexican national symbol."

The central focus of Diego's mural is the "display of bourgeois complacency and values shortly before the Mexican Revolution of 1910." Diego's catrina was a Mexican woman who wore a fancy European hat, dress and feather boa but the feather boa had the head of a serpent. The catrina is on the arm of Jose Posada. Diego as a child holds her hand as if she is his mother.

"Catrina became central to Mexican identity in part because Posada was made into the "primary artistic ancestor figure" for the generation of the Mexican Muralists. Additionally, for many years, influential Day of the Dead festivities in Mexico City were held at museums that centered on Rivera and Kahlo, where the Linares family made three dimensional versions of Posada's prints out of papier mâché. Consequently, Posada, Rivera, and Kahlo were woven into foundational urban commemorations in Mexico City. Even without the Mesoamerican attributes Rivera provided to Catrina, she still functions as a national emblem associated specifically with Mexico."

Day of the Dead is an even more complex event. Some say the origins are from the Aztec's Lady of Death. Others say it's from the Catholic influence of All Saints and All Souls day from Europe and Spain. Still others say it became popular as Mexican politicians tried to instill Mexican nationalism in its people. An interesting note is that Day of the Dead parades were not that prevalent in major cities in Mexico until after a 2015 James Bond film Spectre included one. Mexico gave the movie $14,000,000 to film in Mexico to promote Mexico. The opening sequence was filmed in Zócalo and the Centro Histórico district in Mexico City. Due to the interest raised by Spectre and the government's desire to promote the pre-Hispanic Mexican culture, the federal and local authorities decided to organise an actual "Día de Muertos" parade through Paseo de la Reforma and Centro Histórico on 29 October 2016 which was attended by 250,000 people. Before they were mainly in smaller towns. Today many Mexican cities have these events to encourage tourism and local business. The Mexican Secretary of Tourism started promoting Dia de Muertos year round in 2016 in Mexico and abroad. They even hired a catrin dressed as a mariachi.

Whatever the case as Dia de los Muertos became more popular and commercialized in Mexico and the US catrinas also became more popular. Today we have catrinas of all types. There are classic traditional catrinas similar to the original who wear a fancy old style European dress and hat while wearing skull face makeup. Some catrinas feature an Aztec lady of death fashion and headdress. Still others are more modern glam interpretations of the catrina with large quinceanera dresses and flower crowns. Many have sugar skull makeup and face painting. There are even catrine (masculine) contests at most Dia de los Muertos events. These contests include catrines or male versions of the catrina. The male version can just be a dapper well dressed gentleman or a mariachi. The possibilities are endless today. The catrina of today is very different than Jose Posada and Diego Rivera's catrinas.

FYI my family is from Mexico. We observed All Soul's day and All Saint's day by going to mass at church. We also tended and cared for the graves of our family. We didn't dress up as catrinas growing up. I only got involved in Dia de los Muertos activities in the last 17 years here in Los Angeles, California where I live. I think my first event was Self-Help graphics in 2006 in East LA.

Jenna Marie Ortega was born in 2002 in Coachella, Riverside, California. Her parents are Edward Anthony Ortega and Natalie Marie Lopez both born in Riverside, California. Paternal Family

Paternal grandfather was Anthony "Tony" Ortega. Below is his obituary.

"Indio - Anthony "Tony" Larriva Ortega was born February 8, 1948 in Indio CA, to Jose Maria Ortega and Josephine Ortega and passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on January 19, 2022 in Indio, CA. He graduated from Coachella Valley High School in 1966 and served in the U.S. Army from 1968-1970. Tony will be remembered by all as a person that loved his family. Tony was proceeded in death by his parents Jose Maria and Josephine, and his sister Estella O. Cruz of Indio, CA.

Tony is survived by his wife Rosemary Palomares Ortega of Indio, CA, sons Edward Ortega of La Quinta, CA, Eli Ortega of Indio, CA, and daughter Monika Ortega of Indio, CA. Also surviving is his sister Julieta O. Arias of Indio, CA, and his grandchildren Mariah, Isaac, Mia, Jenna, Markus, and Aliyah. His great-grandchildren include Damian and Cash and too many nieces, nephews, and other loving family members, by blood, marriage, and choice, to possibly list.

Tony raised his 3 kids on a 5 acre ranch he owned for 23 years and built his dream home on. He was a tile setter and owned C.V. Raisins, his favorite line was "Hey I know what I'm talking about I'm a tile setter!"

Some of our best memories of our Fadda are of traveling, camping, shooting and treasure hunting all while listening to his oldies something everyone in the family got to enjoy with him, and something Tony really loved. We learned so much from our Fadda and we miss him so much already."

Grandmother is Rosemary Palomares Ortega who survives.

Great grandfather was Jose Maria Ortega. Below is his obituary.

"Jose Maria Ortega, 78, co-owner of businesses Services (or Jose Maria "Chema" Ortega), 78, of Indio will be held at 9 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Indio. Mr. Ortega, a native of Chihuahua, Mexico, died Sunday at his home. He was a 70-year resident of the Coachella Valley. He was co-owner of Indio Cab Co. from 1946 to 1963, co-owner of El Patio Inn in Indio from 1948 to 1985 and co-owner of Coachella Valley Raisin Co. from 1981 to 1987. He was a member of Sociedad Progresista Mexicana No. 63 in Coachella. Survivors include two daughters, Julieta O. Arias and Estella O. Cruz, both of Indio; a son,Anthony L. Ortega of Indio; five sisters, Jesusita Mufioz of Mexico, Maria Gas-telum and Lucina Martinez, both of Indio; Elena Galvez of La Quinta and Elvira Larriva of San Diego; four brothers, Antonio Ortega, Francisco Ortega, Carlos Ortega and Rafael Ortega, all of Mexico; 12 grandchildren; and 15 greatgrandchildren. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today . at FitzHenry Funeral Home in Indio. A rosary will be said at 6:30 p.m. .Burial will be at Coachella Valley Cemetery in Coachella."

Great grandmother Josephine Ortega. Obituary is below,

"Josephine Ortega Services for Josephine Larriva "Josefa" Ortega, 70, of Indio, will be at 8:30 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Indio. Mrs. Ortega, a native of Anthony, N.M., died Monday in Indio. She was a member of the Sociedad Protectora Femenil and the owner of the El Patio Inn in Indio. She donated many hours to the Girls Club of the Coachella Valley Thrift Shop and worked as a volunteer at election precincts. Survivors include her husband, Joe; a son, Anthony Ortega of Indio; two daughters, Estella Cruz and Julieta Arias, both of Indio; a sister, Hortencia Rey of Indio; two brothers, Frank Larriva of San Diego and Julio Larriva of Indio, 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the FitzHenry Funeral Home in Indio. A rosary will be said at 7:15 p.m. Burial will be at the Coachella Valley Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Diabetes Association."

Great grandfather Felizardo Palomares obituary is below.

"Felizardo E Palomares, 96 Bagdasarian worker. Services for Felizardo E Palomares 96 of Indio will be at 9 am Monday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Indio. Mr Palomares a native of Mexico died Thursday at Rancho Milage Health Care Convalescent Hospital in Rancho Mirage. He worked for Qoacbella Valley grower Richard Bagdasarian. Survivors include seven sons PALOMARES fyavid Palomares of Los Angeles, Mike Palomares of Huntington Beach, Harold Palomares of San Bernardino, Frank Palomares of Corona and Paul Palomares Er-i$st Palomares and Robert Palomares all of Coachella, seven daughters Cleo Palomares of Escondido, Rosie Smith of Ventura, Henrietta Hampton of Illinois, Rachel Palomares of Palm Desert, Jennie Fares and Ruby Bracamonte and Rosemary Ortega all of Indio, two stepsons Manuel Perez of Brawley and Tony Perez of Morgan Hill three stepdaughters, Helen Dominguez of Thousand Palms, Eugenia Ysiano of Cabazon and Margaret Aragon of Pomona; 70 grandchildren and 52 greatgrandchildren. Visitation will be from noon Sunday at FitzHenry Funeral Home Chapel in Indio A vigil service will be at 4 pm Burial will be at Coachella Valley Cemetery in Coachella."

Maternal Family

Grandfather was Robert Bob Lopez. Obituary is below.

"Robert Lopez worked in pool maintenance, 42. Services for Robert Lopez 42 of Palm Springs will be at 7 pm today at the Palm Springs Mortuary Chapel. Mr Lopez a native of Puerto Rico died Tuesday at Desert Hospital in Palm Springs. He was self-employed in pool maintenance. Survivors include his mother Felicita Cruz of New York City, a daughter Natalie Lopez of Indio, a son Christian Lopez of Indio, a sister Evelyn Winthrop of Torrance and his friend Richard Lloyd of Palm Springs. Burial will be private."

Grandmother is Maria Morales who is alive.

I'll post more of the family tree after I finish. I started only an hour ago.

Finished paternal side. Still stumped on parts of maternal side which is from Puerto Rico and Mexico.

Nick Fuentes, Nicholas Joseph Fuentes, was born 1998 in Illinois. No exact birth dates of living people will be shared here. This is a genealogy article. Birth years are needed to distinguish from other people with the same name. Nick's birth year is public information which is also available on Wikipedia. The fractions above are based on the family tree alone.

Nick Fuentes, Nicholas Fuentes, is an alleged White Supremacist who leads the Groyper movement. This is pretty odd considering the fact that he's Catholic, Mexican, Italian, Irish and descendant of somewhat recent immigrants, everything which White Supremacists generally hate. His paternal side is Mexican, Irish and maternal side is Italian. He's named after his Mexican grandfather. His paternal side born in Mexico and Ireland. His maternal great grandparents were all born in Italy. ~~I'm still working on the paternal side. I just started an hour or so ago.~~

As I look at the rest of his family it's pretty happily mixed. They are married to Latinos, Greeks and Italians. They are proud of their family heritage. Shocking that Nick Fuentes is a white supremacist when he would not be considered "white Caucasian" per his white supremacist peers. Non white, white supremacists are always very confused.

Nick went to Lyons Township High School in La Grange, Illinois, USA 2012-2016 where he grew up. In 2014 he and his twin sister's high school speech team won first place. His father William Fuentes is an engineer. There's already been enough written about the father and his businesses. His father removed his name from his business websites and tried to remove himself from the internet because of Nick Fuentes' horrible behavior. His mother is Lauren Chicco Fuentes. He has a fraternal twin sister is a national speech champion from Bradley University. They are fraternal which means they don't look alike. That is why he's lighter than her. He looks more like his paternal grandmother who is Irish.

Nick's maternal grandparents were Martin Chicco and Marlene Cairo. Below is Martin's obituary.

"Marlene Chicco, September 26, 1932 - May 19, 2021. Marlene Chicco, nee Cairo, at rest May 19, 2021. She died as she lived, demonstrating astonishing strength, tremendous courage and unwavering faith. She is preceded in death by her husband Martin, her beloved son Joseph, her parents Mary and Joseph, and her brothers Pasquale, Anthony, Dominick and James. She is succeeded by her adoring daughter Lauren (Fuentes), her cherished grandchildren Melissa and Nicholas, and her son in law and dear friend, Bill Fuentes. Marlene’s life was a successful but difficult journey; accomplished in business, in creating a home for all who needed one, and her priority of service and dedication to her God and her family. Her life was an example of unconditional love, forgiveness and grace. Funeral Wednesday, June 9, 2021 with Visitation from 9:30 a.m. until time of funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. at St. Louise de Marillac Church, 1155 Harrison, La Grange Park. She is of Irish descent. She remarried Thomas Gall who is dead. ~~I've gone one more generation back in the entire tree and filled in some names. I'll update the tree above later.~~

Below is a photo of Joseph's brother Simon Fuentes Jr who died recently. Joseph probably looked like this because they were born about the same time. His father Simon Fuentes Sr was born in Mexico and did labor for the freight trains.

So far Nick seems to be the odd man out in the family. The rest seem normal and are not white supremacists as far as I can tell. Please, don't attack the family just because they're related. White supremacy and white supremacists are the evil not Nick's relatives. Attacking his relatives just makes you a dick.
