While I lived blocks from where the parents Jose and Kitty Menendez were murdered I was busy with other things and didn't pay that much attention to the murders in 1989. We lived at 215 N Elm and they lived at 722 N Elm, Beverly Hills, California 90210 five blocks north. I didn't see the documentary aired two days ago. I just noticed that some of my genealogy work was getting lots of hits. Then I realized why. The original obituaries and articles got the genealogy wrong. I'll correct it here.

Son Joseph Lyle Menendez born January 10, 1968 in New Jersey. Brother Erik Galen Menendez born November 27, 1970 in New Jersey.

Father Jose Enrique Menendez was born in Artemisa, Pinar del Rio, Cuba May 6, 1944. He was not born in Havana. Jose died August 20, 1989 in Beverly Hills, California. His father is Jose Francisco "Pepin" Menendez born in Pinar del Rio, Cuba July 27, 1911, died February 12, 1987 in Belleville, Essex, New Jersey. His mother Maria Carlota Llanio Navarro Menendez was born December 8, 1917 in Pinar del Rio, Cuba. She died March 5, 2009 in Fort Lauderdale, Broward, Florida.

Lyle and Erik's mother is Mary "Kitty" Louise Anderson born October 14, 1941 in Oak Lawn, Cook, Illinois. Kitty's father is Charles Milton Andersen born December 2, 1906 in Illinois, died . Kitty's mother is Mae Helen Maloney born June 13, 1911 in Illinois, died November 1984 in Palos Hills, Cook, Illinois.

All the trees say that Charles Milton Anderson left Mae Helen Maloney for Gwinnie Mae Wells. That is incorrect. Gwinnie married a Charles Milton Andersen born 1897. They were married in Missouri, Jackson in 1945. It's a totally different Charltes Milton Andersen. Charles born 1906 left Mae Helen Maloney for Doris Ethel Phelps Yates. They stayed married until both died.
