Elie Wiesel (/ˈɛli ˌviːˈzɛl/, born Eliezer Wiesel Hebrew: אֱלִיעֶזֶר וִיזֶל ʾĔlîʿezer Vîzel;[2][3] September 30, 1928 – July 2, 2016) was a Romanian-born American writer, professor, political activist, Nobel laureate, and Holocaust survivor. Wiesel was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1986. The Norwegian Nobel Committee called him a "messenger to mankind", stating that through his struggle to come to terms with "his own personal experience of total humiliation and of the utter contempt for humanity shown in Hitler's death camps", as well as his "practical work in the cause of peace", Wiesel has delivered a message "of peace, atonement, and human dignity" to humanity. The Nobel Committee also stressed that Wiesel's commitment originated in the sufferings of the Jewish people but that he expanded it to embrace all repressed peoples and races.[6] He was a founding board member of the New York Human Rights Foundation and remained active throughout his life.[7][8]

With what she has termed her “audaciously deceptive” appropriation of an Afro-Caribbean identity, she has betrayed the trust of countless current and former students, fellow scholars of Africana Studies, colleagues in our department and throughout the historical discipline, as well as community activists in New York City and beyond. The discipline of history is concerned with truth telling about the past. With her conduct, Dr. Krug has raised questions about the veracity of her own research and teaching. Accordingly, the department calls upon Dr. Krug to resign from her position as associate professor of History at GW. Failing that, the department recommends the rescinding of her tenure and the termination of her appointment."
Jessica Krug's sister in law today stated that she is white white. The family did not know she pretended to be black. Family claims to have been estranged.
This is a little odd. The brother is a registered sex offender with his mugshot, crimes and home address listed on the internet. What Jessica did was bad but worse than a man who sexually assaulted a child?

Turns out Jessica Krug told people she grew up poor in foster care, was abused, homeless...in New York. She actually went to a very expensive college prep high school in Kansas City, Missouri.
UPDATE: Turns out Jessica Krug's colleagues were going to out her to the public. That is the alleged reason why she came forward with her mea culpa. George Washington University is investigating the situation. I assume she will be fired.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the war in Vietnam. Mr. Krug’s parents owned the Eastside Market for over 30 years. He was a former member of Kehilath Israel Synagogue.
Mr. Krug was preceded in death by both of his parents and ex-wife Sherry M. Krug. Mr. Krug is survived by his son: Joshua William Krug and his wife Amy Marie Krug of Las Vegas; step-grandson: Adam P. O’Reilly of Clarksville, Tennessee; his daughter: Jessica Ann Krug of the Bronx, New York; cousin: Evan Jacobs, his wife Mary Jacobs, and sister: Bernice Jacobs of Memphis, Tennessee. His uncle Leonard and Aunt Cathy Krug of Columbia, Kentucky; along with cousins also survive. He was a kind, loving person that enjoyed life and will surely be missed."

Everyone knows Dr. Henry Louis Gates a University Professor and star of "Finding Your Roots." His family tree is all over the Internet. Most people don't know his wife Sharon Adams. Dr. Henry Louis Gates' wife Sharon Lynn Adams was born in 1950 in West Virginia. Sharon went to Yale and was a Professor of Fine Arts at Duke University. She is an artist, a potter and my 11th cousin. She divorced Gates in 1999.
Sharon Lynn Adams' father Edward Elwyn "Jack" Adams was a coal miner. Her mother was Doris Evelyn Lee. Sharon has two brothers, Robert and Edward, and a sister, Sandy. Below is the obituary of the mother.
